The machine produces dozens of capsules per second, in the middle of the Orbe factory (Switzerland), one of Nespresso’s three, all on Swiss soil. Robots are involved at every stage, from putting the coffee into the container to closing the paper packaging. A human operator intervenes at the end of the chain to carry out the boxing. “But later, this step will be automated,” notes Swen Rabe, the factory boss. Behind him, huge tarpaulins hide the new, larger and more efficient production lines, which will come into service in early 2024.
