The municipal council of Ixelles validated this Thursday evening the preliminary project for the renovation of place Blyckaerts, at the intersection between rue du Trône and rue Maria Malibran. The municipality is thus continuing the renovation and greening of public space (Flagey, Chatelain, etc.) since the permeable surface of the square will increase from 80 m2 to 600. Twelve new trees will be planted and the square will be redone on one level to facilitate crossing. Part of the cobblestones will be retained. Along the Carrefour store on the width of the rectangle formed by the square, the one-way street will be reversed to allow trade deliveries. Parking level, the place is not densely provided in place and only one will be removed by the renovation.

The procedure is only at the preliminary draft stage. It is now necessary to introduce a permit, obtain it, award the contract to a contractor… In short, the work should not start before the spring of 2025. Vivaqua will take the opportunity to intervene on the sewers, which will avoid having to open the road several times.
The Châtelain market in Ixelles will move to Place Flagey for a year
This project is financially linked to another. The municipality intends to redo the narrow rue du conseil on the section between Place Fernand Cocq and Rue Van Aa. This time, 10 parking spaces will be maintained out of the twenty that make up this portion. The work promises to be more extensive since we are talking about a facade-to-facade renovation. The sidewalks will be widened and 10 trees will be planted there.
Total budget for the two projects: 748,000 euros.
