Martha Stewart (82) – just a few months ago celebrated for her fresh look on the cover of “Sports Illustrated” – is currently confronted with a shitstorm on Instagram. Reason: The TV chef shared pictures of her Iceland-Greenland cruise and wrote: “We actually captured a small iceberg for our cocktails tonight”.
You can see Stewart dressed all in beige, with a drink of a matching color and ice cubes. Other photos show large chunks of ice on a tray, then the tour group with champagne glasses toasting each other and glacier shots in the natural environment.
“It’s just tactless”
In the discussion about climate change, Greenland’s melting glaciers make the headlines again and again – a sensitive topic. In combination with the luxurious cruise, the type of travel that environmental protection organizations classify as particularly harmful to the climate, Stewart’s post is not well received by the followers.
“You’re literally saying: ‘Fuck global warming’,” criticizes one user. Another wrote: “I actually love Martha and the excess of her life, but usually she’s all about beautiful gardens, decor and food – but wealthy white people who sip their iceberg cocktails while the world is on fire are just tactless .»

Another comment said: “While the climate warms from the profits of a few thousand people, billionaires vacation to the melting icebergs, collecting them and using them to keep their cocktails chilled.” It is also criticized that Stewart, probably only recently, expressed concern about the climate after her driveway in New York was almost under water after a severe storm. “Melting icebergs for a cocktail will certainly not help and I’m not even going to start from the ship you’re sitting on right now,” it says in a comment.
