Greens Lower Austria: “The FPÖ failure on the railway still affects us today.”

St. Pölten (OTS) Udo Landbauer and his party are known for wanting to destroy our livelihoods with new transit routes. Unfortunately, the FPÖ with its Transport Minister Norbert Hofer was not known to have had an eye on the railways during its government from 2017-2019 – apart from the question of how to create British conditions by privatizing the ÖBB as quickly as possible,” says the Greens in Lower Austria. Traffic spokesman LAbg. Georg Ecker.

And today it is no different: While Minister Leonore Gewessler works day after day to make public transport better and has secured record amounts of money for the railways, Udo Landbauer’s entire transport policy idea is limited to 150 km/h on the motorway and a new one Wanting to build a transit route through the Waldviertel. “We are creating more services, new trains and better infrastructure. We are gradually making up for the mistakes of the past made by Norbert Hofer, among others, with the focus on motorways instead of public transport expansion. It is also painful for us that this unfortunately cannot happen overnight – but this is because infrastructure investments in particular, including planning, approvals and construction, often take several years,” explains Ecker.

“After years of standstill, we are finally investing in the railways in the eastern region again, while the deputy state governor Udo Landbauer and his friends have nothing better to do, dreaming of absurd highways and destroying the future,” concludes Ecker.
