Greens present “vision” for Vienna belt with two car lanes in each direction – Vienna

The Greens’ proposals for a redesign of the Vienna belt are far-reaching. The “image of the future” presented on Thursday outlined a large-scale redistribution of the available public space along the main traffic artery. This is intended to achieve a climate-friendly redesign in times of climate change. The proposals are not concrete planning, “but a vision,” clarified Green transport spokesman Kilian Stark. Without major efforts, however, it will not be possible to meet the climate goals set by the city itself, as party leaders Judith Pühringer and Peter Kraus explained. After all, Vienna wants to almost halve car traffic by 2030.
