Opposition party Groen is displeased with a new preliminary draft decree from the Flemish government, which stipulates that local authorities may not pursue a stricter licensing policy than what is laid down regionally. “Local authorities that want to better protect their nature by introducing an additional permit or notification obligation will no longer be able to do so in the future. It will be impossible to be more ambitious than the Jambon government. That is absurd,” says a Flemish member of parliament and co-chair of Green Jeremie Vaneeckhout Friday.
