The 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami, who was arrested at the scene, revealed the motive for the murder because she thought her mother had a connection with a religious group to which Abe was involved.

It is said that her mother, who was immersed in a religious organization, had to donate a lot and suffered from hardship, which caused conflict.

“The suspect confessed to committing the crime with a grudge against a particular organization, and believed that former Prime Minister Abe was part of that organization.”

The day before the crime, there was also a careful visit to Okayama Prefecture, where the support campaign of former Prime Minister Abe was held.

He has been driving a forklift in a warehouse since 2020, and he retired in May of this year and was unemployed.

The Japanese archipelago, where possession of firearms has been strictly prohibited, was even more shocked by the perpetrator’s statement that the gun was made from parts bought on the Internet.

It is known that the perpetrator worked in the Maritime Self-Defense Force from 2002 to 2005, learning rifle shooting and dismantling and assembly techniques.

After an autopsy, the body of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was moved to his home in Tokyo.

The funeral will be held first as a family funeral home on the 12th.

In the midst of this, voting in Japan’s House of Councilors election started at 7 am today at polling stations across the country.

With interest in the aftermath of this incident, local media are predicting that the Liberal Democratic Party and the ruling coalition party, the Gongmyung Party, will secure a decent majority of seats.

Japanese broadcasters will announce the exit poll results at the time voting ends at 8pm.
