On the first day of the Austrian Indoor Championships, Salzburg’s track and field athletes had reason to celebrate. Long jumper Inge Grünwald took silver.

Inge Grünwald secured second place with her last attempt, in which she set her season’s best distance of 6.15 meters. She almost caught the winner Isabel Posch (TS Lustenau). The Vorarlberg all-rounder repeated her title from last year with 6.19 meters. She left the heptathlon stars Sarah Lagger and Verena Mayr behind her.

Shanna Tureczek came fifth in the pole vault (3.20 m), Jakob Hinterholzer was able to improve his personal best in sixth place over 60 meters in 7.02 seconds, as was Lara-Joy Lußning (U18) in seventh place in 8.02.

There was a golden celebration for a young Salzburg player: Benedikt Kurz won the U18 over 60 meters with a personal best of 7.10 seconds. In the long jump, Sarah Baumgartner came in second with 5.58 meters, narrowly beaten by Lenia Standfest (LTU Graz/5.62). The versatile Union athlete has two more medal chances on Sunday in the triple jump and the pole vault.

Anselm Schneeberger ran to U18 silver over 3000 meters in 9:15.69 minutes.
