Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his great happiness at his team’s victory over Arsenal in the framework of the English Premier League matches.
Manchester City had defeated Arsenal, 3-1, in the match that was held between them at the Emirates Stadium, in a postponed match from the twelfth week of the English Premier League championship.
In an interview with the BBC, Guardiola said: “In the first half, Arsenal were much better than us, we were not strong enough, but in the second half we showed a lot of advantage.”
He added, “Since the first minute of the second half, we pressed harder. They didn’t get that extra man in midfield, and the players made an extraordinary effort to control Arsenal players like Saka, Martinelli and Nketiah. It wasn’t easy.”
And about his Norwegian player, Erling Haaland, he said: “Haaland helps us a lot in the fight, as it is not easy. We talked a lot about the behavior of Arsenal defenders and how to confront them, and Haaland is one of the most important weapons in this confrontation.”
He concluded: “There are 15 matches remaining, and the Champions League is coming. Many and exhausting matches for the players, the important thing is that we are present and able to compete.”
