Guardiola: Silva will stay at Manchester City

Berlin (DPA)
Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola confirmed that Portuguese player Bernardo Silva will remain at the end of the summer transfer period, noting that his club has not received any official offer yet to sign the distinguished midfielder.
Silva had been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, following he confirmed earlier this month that his current club knew his desire well.
Silva starred last season, scoring 13 goals and making seven goals for his teammates in the 50 games he participated in. Guardiola did not make much effort to reduce the possibility of his departure, saying that the midfielder “loves Barcelona very much.”
Speaking at the press conference held today, Friday, before facing Crystal Palace tomorrow, Saturday, in the league, Guardiola made his clear statement regarding Silva’s future, saying: “He will definitely stay here.”
He added, “We have not received any offer from any club asking for Bernardo Silva, that is the reason for him staying with us.”
When asked regarding the difficult situation that Manchester City will fall into if Silva moves at the end of the transfer market, which puts the team in a difficult position to find a replacement, the Spanish coach replied: “Yes, but I tell you that he will stay.”
