Guatemala beats Mexico, goes to the semifinals and qualifies for the Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan

Late for history is the one that the Guatemalan National Futsal Team starred in the Concacaf World Cup as it managed to qualify for its sixth World Cup after defeating Mexico 9-4 at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center in Nicaragua.
It was complicated at first, but finally the blue and white got the only result that helped them secure qualification for the World Cup in Uzbekistan that will be played in September 2024.
Guatemala started down 1-3 on the scoreboard, but those led by Carlos Eduardo “el zancudo” Estrada reacted in the first half and thanks to Roberto Alvarado (double), Marvin Sandoval and Jhonny Díaz went to halftime with a 4-3 lead.
What Mexico said in the first half remained that way and in the second half the blue and white team completely dominated the game.

Uzbekistan will be Guatemala’s sixth World Cup after their appearances in the editions of 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021.
Now the Guatemala National Team will face Panama in the semifinals of the Concacaf World Cup, the match is scheduled for next Thursday, April 18.
In the other key, Costa Rica and the winner of the crossing between the Dominican Republic and Cuba will face each other.
