CovidTracker, Vitemadose, it was him. Guillaume Rozier, the 26-year-old engineer who had achieved notoriety at the height of the pandemic by using data to improve the functioning of health services, became an adviser to Emmanuel Macron on digital strategy.
“A page is turning for me, I become an adviser to the President of the Republic on the subjects of digital strategy and public data. Among my objectives, one is particularly close to my heart: to continue to bring out a public data service, ”tweeted the computer engineer.
National Order of Merit
A specialist in data processing, he first made himself known through his CovidTracker site, quickly followed by tens of thousands of French people to watch the day-to-day evolution of Covid cases. He then created ViteMaDose, a site that made it easier to find vaccination slots when they were still scarce.
To pay tribute to the effectiveness of Vitemadose, acclaimed by the French, in May 2021 the Head of State decorated him himself with the National Order of Merit, presenting him with the insignia of knighthood on an exceptional basis despite his young age.
TrackMyWatt, his new project
His dual profile as a scientist specializing in digital technology and a self-made man, capable of creating an effective and popular tool on his own, very quickly caught the eye of Emmanuel Macron, fond of innovations. And Guillaume Rozier has never hidden that he wanted to serve the State. He could in particular be interested in energy sobriety, like the site he created this fall, TrackMyWatt, to monitor electricity consumption.
He had created CovidTracker on Twitter in March 2020, when he was completing his engineering studies at Telecom Nancy, with a specialty in artificial intelligence and data processing. From public data, he produced very clear graphs on the evolution of the pandemic, which became a reference for information on the progression of the pandemic.
Its success had, however, led many observers to draw up a cruel observation for the public authorities: that of the State’s inability to produce such services for the greatest number.
