On the occasion of the trip of the members of the government in deep Guinea, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock made a tour in the prefecture of Dinguiraye. Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry took advantage of the opportunity to immerse himself in the working conditions of executives and peasant populations before promising the modernization of the sector. For Minister Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry, Guinean agriculture must combine with autonomy to get farmers out of the rut. This is what justifies his constant presence on the ground. “Since my installation as Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, I have received instructions from the President of the Transition, Colonel Mamadi DOUMBOUYA, to be as close as possible to the populations in order to receive point out the realities on the ground. Our policy is to leave begging agriculture for self-sustaining agriculture. Our priority is the farmer or breeder who is in the village and who is looking for support to develop his activity”, explained the minister who is currently among the most active in the Transitional Government.
Several difficulties that hinder the development of the agricultural sector in Dinguiraye have been identified. These include the lack of staff, the lack of equipment, developed agricultural areas, the extensive deterioration of rural roads allowing the transport of products, the lack of support for trainees, etc.
According to the minister, urgent measures are being taken by the government for the emergence of the agricultural sector. “We are going to make resources available to our agents in the field and to farmers to enable them to produce better. Integration into the public service will no longer be the same as before. We have seen leaders who have employed their children who are still on the benches. We will organize a competition so that the executives who have the skills can be employed. We will send some inside and we will reassure ourselves that they are agricultural advisers in all the rural communes and we will create all the conditions for them so that they stay and work in the best interests of the populations”, specified Minister Nagnalen Barry.
At the end of the meeting, the managers and farmers said they were satisfied with this contact. They also expressed their commitment to work for more productivity.
