Gustavo Bolívar’s controversial comment to Colombian businessmen

The senator of Historical Pact, Gustavo Bolivar, gave much to talk about after a public intervention he made in the city of Barranquilla. There, Bolívar was socializing the tax reform project that the National Government is promoting and that has an urgent message in Congress.

During his speech, the congressman made several controversial statements that have earned him strong criticism. Among other things, he referred to the role that the entrepreneurs after adjustments to the country’s fiscal rules.

Bolívar said that he himself had been poor and had gotten money later, for which he said he knew he had enough resources to pay taxes. “I have seen how we have money left over to buy paintings for 80,000 or 30,000 dollars”assured.

In turn, through his Twitter account, he made a controversial request to businessmen. “Don’t cry so much” asked. And he added that in the country there are about 20 million people in poverty.

And he argued that the country requires “solidarity entrepreneurs” who are capable of assuming the tax burden to finance the State’s social programs.

He warned that in Colombia “there are few rich people” and said that this also implied that there were many poor people. To that extent, he pointed out that although the Government of the Historical Pact is in favor of increasing the number of rich citizens, it also seeks to reduce the poverty.

Bolívar also asked that industries such as tourism be promoted, which, according to his accounts, brings to the country about 4 million tourists every year.
