High winds caused damage. Trees fell on the roads. Forty interventions were recorded for the firefighters of Tournai, 45 in Walloon Brabant. About ten in Charleroi, 26 in Verviers.

It was in the province of Namur that the wind left the most traces. In particular in Lives-sur-Meuse, rue de Loyers, where an intervention was underway this morning. Intervention for the cutting of a particularly imposing tree. Rue de Loyers crosses the fields, we are in open country. Three trees stood for decades at the edge of the causeway and only two remain. One of the three did not resist, despite a trunk that was close to one meter in diameter. There have been dozens of interventions like these since last night in the Namur region, and it’s not over.

Hainaut

Firefighters have intervened about forty times since Wednesday evening in Picardy Wallonia (Western Hainaut) due to strong gusts of wind sweeping the territory. However, no injuries were reported. “The first interventions started at 8:30 p.m. and continued throughout the night in all four corners of the region. These interventions are still in progress. There will certainly be new ones when people wake up,” indicated the disptaching of the relief zone of Wapi Thursday shortly before 07:00. The firefighters were called for the cutting of trees or hardwoods hindering traffic on the public highway, the cleaning of streets or even for torn cables.

In Brussels, nine trees were uprooted and 11 various objects (cornices, billboards, facade stones, etc.) fell.

The wind will still be quite strong inland and strong at sea, with gusts of up to 60 to 70 km/h. The mercury will show 7 degrees on the heights and 10 to 11 degrees in the plain.

During the night, the weather will become temporarily dry before a new area of ​​rain approaches the territory, accompanied by a sustained southerly wind. The minima will be between 4 degrees in the Hautes Fagnes and 8 degrees at sea.
