Yesterday, the VRT reported that a gynecologist, now retired, had been able to use his own sperm for artificial inseminations in the 80s in Belgium.
This Friday, Het Laatste Nieuws went to the doctor’s home to get his version of the facts. The man defended himself, arguing that he was only “helping people in distress” and adding: “I did not commit a crime.”
For his part, he claims to have contacted a lawyer. He refuses to confirm or deny the alleged facts.
Following the VRT report, AZ Delta Hospital had opened a helpline for parents or children of worried donors. A dozen people have already contacted the establishment.
