Haas F1 Pre-Season Testing: Manager and Driver Feedback

Haas F1 closed the protocol of the first day of testing, but they see no reason for disappointment in this…

Ayo Komatsu, team manager: “For the first day of pre-season testing, everything went well today. Not perfect, but quite decent.

Over the course of two sessions we focused on long-distance tire work, collecting a lot of information. Both drivers used different strategies and we were able to compare them. We learned a lot.

I would say that we were able to achieve most of our goals for the day. We have an even larger range of tasks for tomorrow, but on Wednesday we completed 148 laps – we have a good basis for the tasks that will have to be solved on Thursday.”

Kevin Magnussen: “I’m fine. I feel very good. Physically, the morning was not easy, but it’s always nice to be back in the car after winter.

The first session was positive, we focused on the long series of laps and tried to solve last year’s problems with the tires. This is our top priority.

We’re happy with what we saw this morning, but there’s a lot of work ahead to explore and learn about the new car.”

Nico Hulkenberg: “During the day I worked long series of laps with a lot of fuel. It was important to collect as much information as possible about the car and its operation with tires. Last year this was our weak point, which we are trying to eliminate.

There were no technical problems, which is obvious from the distance covered during the day. 82 laps is great!”
