Haas F1 team prepares update package for Mick Schumacher / F1 Belgian GP[F1-Gate.com]

The Haas F1 team has confirmed that both Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher will be running the heavily updated VF-22 at this weekend’s F1 Belgian Grand Prix.

This season, Haas F1 Team chose to introduce just one major update package, unlike the approach taken by many of its rivals. An improved version of VF-22 was introduced in the previous race, the F1 Hungarian GP.

However, due to the production situation, only Kevin Magnussen, who is at the top of the championship, ran the updated machine at the F1 Hungarian GP.

However, at the F1 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, Mick Schumacher also has an updated VF-22.

Haas F1 team boss Guenther Steiner said: “We found the live action numbers correlated with the wind tunnel numbers. This is always a good sign and we need to make the most of it in our lap times. ” he said.

“Before we shut down, the team had a close look at the data and now that we’re back from the break we’re going to do a lot more, but at the moment it looks good and I hope we can improve our lap times.”

The Haas F1 Team has amassed 34 points so far and enters the second half of the season in 7th place in the constructors’ standings.

“Hopefully I can keep this position in the championship. That’s battle number 1,” said Gunther Steiner.

“Battle number two is to be sixth, but let’s see. We always do our best and try to improve or at least not fall behind.”
