Guenther Steiner, head of the Haas F1 Team, dismissed any indications of the similarities between the Haas VF-22 and Ferrari F1-75, which have been ridiculed as “white Ferraris” or “white whales.”
The Haas F1 Team has had a strong connection with Ferrari since it entered the F1 grid in 2016. Haas’s F1 car not only has a Ferrari power unit, but also uses Scuderia Ferrari’s gearbox, suspension and other parts to access the wind tunnel.
Today, the relationship is further developed, with Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters having an office dedicated to the Haas F1 Team, and the new VF-22 was designed by a team led by former Ferrari senior designer Simone Resta.
Rival teams are dissatisfied with the relationship and are afraid of close collaboration, if not intentionally.
“The worry is that people who share the wind tunnel can drink coffee together,” Otmar Szafnauer, head of the Alpine F1 Team, told F1TC.
“And especially they are partners and you can say,’How was that? How was the latest floor? You shouldn’t go that way. It’s not very good.'”
Andreas Seidl, the representative of the McLaren F1, has also expressed concern.
“I can’t really talk about the two cars, Haas and Ferrari,” said Andreas Seidl, “but in general, such a relationship could exist within the limits of the regulation.” It is not a secret that it is our concern how they are currently implemented. “
Guenther Steiner said thanks to Ferrari when the Haas F1 Team showed speed, with comments from Haas F1 Team rivals and the team’s 2022 F1 machine being called the “Movidic”. He said it was amazing to be held responsible for the team when it wasn’t.
“Such a claim has always existed and will continue to exist. I’m calm,” Guenther Steiner told F1-Insider.com.

Guenther Steiner previously said that the relationship between the Haas F1 Team and Scuderia Ferrari and the decision to set up an office in Maranello were made for convenience.

“It was done just for convenience. Ferrari had already planned a building, with offices available due to the impending budget limit.”
