The band are taking part in a YouTube live this afternoon, alongside Jimmy Fallon, to reveal details of Hackney Diamonds, their new studio album.
Surprise ! After 18 years of absence, the Rolling Stones are back. The British group has just announced the arrival of a new album, entitled Hackney Diamonds. The suspense is at its peak. The details will be revealed on Wednesday afternoon, in an exclusive interview with Jimmy Fallonon Youtube.
Hackney Diamonds will be launched at an event in Hackney, east London, a venue “at the center of the new album”. For the occasion, Mick Jagger, who celebrated his 80th birthday at the end of July, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood will be interviewed by American television host and humorist Jimmy Fallon. The event will be broadcast on YouTube from 3:25 p.m. “This is a truly global moment that we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube”says the group.
“New Album, Music, Era”
This album is the Rolling Stones’ 24th studio album in the UK. It is also their first studio album with original songs in 18 years. The latest is none other than the opus A bigger Bangreleased in 2005. Their latest album, Blue and Lonesome which happens to be a blues covers record, dates back to 2016. Hackney Diamonds will be the Stones’ first project since the death of Charlie Watts, drummer of this legendary group, in 2021 at the age of 80. The BBC reports rumors that stars like Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga will feature in the album.

The launch of this opus was announced in August in an enigmatic advertisement which appeared in a local daily newspaper, the Hackney Gazette. «Hackney Diamonds, expert in glass repair. Opening in September 2023», the ad said. It immediately spread on social networks, fans having spotted allusions to the group. In the text, references to key titles such as Gimme Shelter et Satisfaction. The date of the creation of the company, 1962, also happens to be that of the creation of the group. The point on the «i» you against «diamonds» took up the famous logo in the shape of a mouth sticking out its tongue. The advertisement linked to a website «hackneydiamonds.com» portant la signature du label Universal Music.
Since Wednesday morning, the site links directly to that of the group and shows Jimmy Fallon on a sofa, hanging from an old telephone. “New Album, Music, Era”is it written, above a countdown before the start of the «conversation» between the Stones and Jimmy Fallon.
