Half-Life: Ray Traced Teaser with Path Tracing Lighting

The enthusiast developer sultim-t, who created the Serious Sam TFE: Ray Traced mod, continues his work and is now developing a similar upgrade for Half-Life. When finished, the original Valve game will have path-traced lighting that looks much more realistic.

With path tracing, Half-Life will work with global illumination, reflections, refractions, soft shadows, and other visual effects.

As you can see from the video above, there will be no changes in the gameplay and levels. This is not a fan-made remake, but a graphic twist for a classic game.

Naturally, tracing is much more resource-demanding, even if the game itself is over 20 years old. What the system requirements will be is not yet clear. It is also unknown when the mod will be released.
