His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University, issued a decision to restructure the University’s Board of Trustees headed by His Highness. The council’s membership includes: His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Vice Chairman of the Council, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, member of the Executive Council, His Excellency Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, and His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman The Department of Health, Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, Managing Director of Al Ain International Group, Ahmed Matar Al Dhaheri, Director of the Office of His Highness the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Maryam Eid Al Muhairi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, and Dr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi University, and President of Abu Dhabi University.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of the role played by the University’s Board of Trustees in translating its mission and goals to meet the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him” and his vision to advance the education sector and prepare specialized national cadres that meet the UAE Centennial agenda 2071 and related research programs and projects covering various scientific disciplines required by the national development process for the next fifty years.
His Highness said: Abu Dhabi University is continuing to develop its academic strategy, especially with regard to launching research projects that meet the needs of the various development sectors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the state and the region, and to employ the expertise of researchers, academics, students and graduates in advancing the scientific research process, which opens wide horizons for innovative solutions to the challenges faced. These sectors are witnessing, and the creation of a scientific and academic environment at the university that enhances creativity, innovation and leadership, and opens up future prospects for brilliant and research talents, allowing the university and its cadres to contribute to the advancement of the economic, developmental and civilized development witnessed by the country by providing the best scientific and applied practices that enable it to keep pace with scientific progress and interaction. With the times and looking forward to the future, he pointed out that scientific research represents one of the strong strategic pillars in the university’s march and quality of performance during the coming period.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the efforts of the Board of Trustees and its members during the past period, which had the greatest impact in pushing the university’s march and launching it to global horizons, stressing that Abu Dhabi University is confidently moving towards strengthening its position and leadership as a national institution that applies best practices in teaching and scientific research. And community service, which made it at the forefront of higher education institutions locally, regionally and internationally, according to specialized global ranking indicators, despite the university’s young age, which launched its academic career in 2003.
