Hanging Gardens wins the Red Sea Film Festival Award

Hanging Gardens, directed by Iraqi director Ahmed Yassin Al Darraji, won an award Golden Yusr For Best Feature Film, in Second period for the Red Sea Film Festival in KSA.

Tunisian Lotfi Nathan won the award for best directing for his movie “Harqa”, while the jury awarded its special award to the Saudi film “Between the Sands” directed by Mohamed Al-Atawi.

Tunisian Adam Bessa won the best actor award for his role in the movie “Harqa”, and the Algerian Adela Ben Demrad won the best actress award for her role in the movie “The Last Queen”.

The Iranian film “A Village Without Children”, directed by Reza Jamali, won the screenplay award, and director of photography Duraid Al-Munajim won the Cinematic Achievement Award for the movie “Hanging Gardens”.

The Audience Award from the Al-Ula Film Foundation for the best Saudi film went to “Shyabni Hani”, directed by Ziyad Al-Husseini.

In the short film competition, “At My Father’s Grave” by Gawahin Zentar won the Golden Yusr Award, and “Will My Father Come to See Me?” Somali director Mohamed Bashir Hrawi won the Silver Yusr Award.

Jumana Al-Rashed, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Red Sea Film Festival Foundation, said in an English-language speech yesterday, Thursday: “This second edition raised the ceiling of ambitions, and made the festival a regional destination, and even a global destination as well.”

Al-Rashed added: “We received 4,000 guests and 74 speakers. Great meetings took place with industry icons, and through these dialogues and discussions we reached common visions, and we discussed the world of cinema in all its aspects: its impact and influence, its power and ability to formulate opinions, educate and inspire … but this It’s just the beginning, we still have a lot of work to do.”
