The move sounds impressive: The fast food giant McDonald’s wants to drastically reduce the use of plastic in the more than one billion children’s toys that the company sells worldwide every year in the coming years. The US company announced that more toys will be made from recycled or plant-based plastics in the Happy Meal offerings for children in the future. In Germany, too, the company is planning to reduce the proportion of plastic. “The aim for the German market is to switch completely to more sustainable toys in the Happy Meal by 2025,” said a spokeswoman for WirtschaftsWoche.
