Harassment and attempted rape of 7 girls .. 3 years imprisonment for an Egyptian artist

Today, Tuesday, the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the Egyptian artist Shadi Khalaf to 3 years in prison For accusing him of sexually assaulting 7 girls and trying to rape them.

The court attributed to the artist accusations of harassment and indecent assault on girls in an acting studio in Cairo and Nuweiba from 2016 to 2021.

Investigations revealed that the victims trained in his studio, where they got to know him there, by participating in acting workshops at different times, with the exception of the first author who met him during his stay at the place where she works and confirmed that he harassed her and tried to rape her.

They retreat in fear

Meanwhile, the girls mentioned in their statements that the accused tried to engage in indecent acts with them, and when they refused, he expelled them from the workshop, but they declined to report the facts out of fear for their reputation.

They confirmed that after that, they learned through social media that the accused had committed such acts with others, so they wrote down what happened to them on one of the communication platforms and submitted reports to the security services.

Verbal and physical harassment

In parallel, the girls published on their pages via the communication site, leaflets in which they revealed that they were subjected to verbal and physical harassment from the artist, while receiving an acting training course in a workshop he owned.

While one of them stated that he surprised her during training last June, molested her, grabbed sensitive parts of her body and tried to kiss her by force.

It is noteworthy that Shadi Khalaf is 44 years old and is the son of the poet Nabil Suleiman Khalaf, who was previously accused and convicted in a corruption case, especially while working in the Ministry of Interior.

Shadi participated in many films, including “The Three They Work for It”, “365 Days of Happiness”, “The First in Love”, “Heya Fawda”, “Kalmni Shukran”, and “Hena Maysara”.
