Haridasan’s political assassination; 4 BJP activists arrested Crime News

Punnol (Kannur): Police say political animosity was behind the brutal murder of a CPM activist in front of his wife and brother in Punnol. Haridasan (54), a fisherman, was killed at around 1.30 am on Monday. Police have arrested four BJP activists, including K Lijesh (37), a Thalassery municipal councilor and BJP Thalassery constituency president, at his Sreesankaranelloor home in Kommalvayal, Thalassery, on charges of conspiracy in the case.

The other accused arrested are KV Vimin (26) of Punnol KV House, RSS Khand Karyawah, Amal Manoharan (26) of Punnol Devikrupa, headmaster of the branch and M Sunesh alias Mani (39) of Sunesh Nivas, Gopalpet, Thalassery. According to police, Haridasan was hacked to death in the backyard by a group of four people with a deadly weapon.

City Police Commissioner R. Elango said the killers have not yet been arrested and the search is continuing. Police said it was not clear in which vehicle the killers arrived and which way they passed. Police believe that Sunesh, who went to work with Haridas on the day of the incident, gave the information to the attackers.
