Harry and Meghan at Invictus Games in The Hague

For the first time since their withdrawal from the British royal family, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have appeared together in Europe once more. The couple traveled together for the Harry-created Invictus Games, which officially kicked off yesterday in The Hague, The Netherlands.

“Your actions show that the impossible is possible. Your stories inspire people to believe in themselves,” said Prince Harry at the opening ceremony to the disabled veterans from around the world who will compete in different disciplines. After two postponements due to the pandemic, the tournaments in various disciplines will now take place until April 22nd.

Harry said he hopes events like this will allow the global community to show they stand with Ukraine. “You know we stand by your side. The world is by your side and you still deserve more,” he said to the Ukrainian team, who said they had traveled with special permission from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Duchess Meghan also paid her respects to the team before beaming and handing over to her “incredible husband”.
