English captain Harry Kane became the top goalscorer in his debut season in the German Bundesliga. Kane netted once for Bayern in a thrilling win over Damstad 98.

With this, the player’s goal tally has reached 31 in the league season. Kane surpassed Uwe Seeler’s mark of 30 goals for Hamburg in his first Bundesliga season (1963–64). Bayern won by five goals against two. Jamal Musiala shone with a brace (36th and 64th minute). Serge Nabri (74th minute) and Mathis Tell (90+3) also netted. Kane’s goal was in the injury time of the first half (45+1).

Tim Skark (28th minute) and Oscar Wilhelmsson (90+5) scored for Damstad. With the win, Bayern narrowed the gap to seven points with Bayer Leverkusen, who remain unbeaten in the league. Damstad rattled the visitors in the first half but Bayern took control of the match in the second half. In the meantime, Kane was injured when he hit the goal post and left the field.

Club officials have not released any information regarding whether the player’s injury is serious. Bayern’s opponents in the Champions League quarter-finals are English club Arsenal. The first leg match will be played at the Emirates Stadium on April 9.
