History

Freshman Madison Olmstead established a single-season and freshman record as the University of Hartford women’s lacrosse team won its fourth straight game with a 16-10 upset of Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Nichols Wednesday.

Olmstead finished with five goals and two assists in the victory to finish the game 32 goals, 14 assists and 46 points – all single-season freshman records. The 32 goals and 46 points are also the program’s single-season record. She is one assist from tying the program’s single-season mark for assists.

Hartford took over in the second half by scoring seven of nine second-half goals, including all three of the fourth-period markers. In all eight different Hartford players scored in the victory.

Nichols scored three of the first four goals before graduate Lily Belle Baker made her presence felt in her first appearance of the season. She assisted on a goal, then scored the next two to give Hartford its first lead of the game. After sophomore Laurel McIntosh capped a four-game spurt, the Bison ended the quarter with a pair of goals.

The Hawks opened up a three-goal lead in the second period before Nichols closed the half with two goals to pull to within one.

  • Hartford was 4-of-5 on free-position shots, while Nichols was 2-for-5.
  • Junior Meghan Smith tied a season-high with three goals and she has four multi-goal games of the season.
  • Senior Lenaijah Ferguson has scored in every game this season and has tallied multiple goals in seven of eight games.
  • Graduate Hanna Ramsey finished with 11 saves.
  • Hartford was 17-of-21 on clear attempts, while Nichols was 14-of-21.
