From the team of the president-elect, Gabriel Boric, they asked the different representatives not to confirm who was summoned to join their ranks as undersecretaries, nor to give details of how the entire search and background check process took place. This, they say, to avoid speculation.
However, the mystery would be solved this day, since it is expected that by means of a statement that would be delivered during the morning, the Frente Amplio official confirms his 39 undersecretaries.
The last details would have been reviewed yesterday, when the political committee of the elected president met for the first time, with the presence of those who will be heads of the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity and Finance, Antonia Orellana and Mario Marcel, respectively.
It is expected that after the appointment, the teams will be able to meet again, together with the representatives of Approve Dignidad, because as the future minister Camila Vallejo explained, it is necessary to maintain meeting instances.
“For us, the cohesion of this team that is going to work hard to advance the government program and to also involve the citizens in this great challenge is very important. The transformations that lie ahead are profound, they are not easy and that is why we need to prepare our teams”, commented the deputy PC.
But that cohesion is not completely assured, since several leaders warned that the throes of the formation of the cabinet have not completely disappeared. Comunes, RD and the PC would not have been satisfied with the distribution of forces.
In fact, officials asserted in private that the Approve Dignidad parties clashed vigorously over the new positions to be defined and that, for the same reason, the communication of the undersecretaries was delayed.
Ka Quiroz, president of Comunes, de-dramatized the alleged controversy and in conversation with 24 Horas assured that the cabinet showed a good balance, although she also stated that they hope to have greater representation in what is to come in order to “strengthen Approve Dignity.”
For his part, Tomás Hirsch (AH), indicated that it is rather logical that the parties seek greater representation in the Executive, since “they seek to contribute. But at the same time we have given the president total autonomy and freedom to define his teams.”
However, he insisted that the meetings that the block has had have taken place in total harmony.

What do you think about the expectation surrounding the appointments?
It is very important that there is so much citizen interest in knowing who is going to take office to promote the public policies that are going to make flesh our transformative program. Politics is here to settle and be part of the citizen conversation. It’s good that the names are being checked. And it is also good that they have taken the necessary time, because you have to be careful.
It has been mentioned that in the DR they were upset with the formation of the cabinet. Is that correct?
I wouldn’t say it like that. It has been a bit artificial, because we are used to political calculations and we are proud of the appointments in Education and Segpres. This was a first announcement, others are coming and we believe that the DR is going to support and has been doing so, despite how many ministers or undersecretaries it has.
But do you hope to have more space in this appointment?
The DR has been pushing various agendas and we have militancy with many competencies for important agendas; if they are called to assume positions of trust, we appreciate it and we are sure that there are willing people.
Manuel Monsalve (PS) is one of the four future undersecretaries who have been confirmed as such and, although he has not yet joined, he is already the target of questioning.
This, because as he reaches the head of the Undersecretary of the Interior, he must begin his work before March 11, due to the role he has in the process of change of command and in the appointments, but there he would continue to be a deputy, a position to which can only be resigned by being appointed minister or ambassador.
For the same reason, some of their peers from Chile Vamos warned that there is a serious incompatibility and announced that they will turn to the Comptroller General of the Republic to review the matter, despite the fact that, as Juan Antonio Coloma (UDI) said, they have the best opinion of the socialist deputy.
However, comptroller Jorge Bermúdez declined to say whether or not the case constitutes an incompatibility.
After meeting with the president-elect and his team, Bermúdez said: “I can’t say if it’s correct or not, because I haven’t studied it. I have to study it, I have to discuss it with the legal team, I have to see what suggestions they are going to make and then make a decision”.
When asked about it, the spokeswoman Camila Vallejo asserted that “obviously we need the Comptroller’s statement before a letter that I understand has not yet arrived, but in this situation and depending on its statement we have another alternative solution.”
