Havana is bracing for a 60% chance of rain today, with wind gusts reaching 39 kilometers per hour, as the Cuban capital experiences typical conditions for this time of year. The daytime high will reach 29 degrees Celsius, dropping to 22 degrees Celsius overnight, with a minimal 3% chance of precipitation during the evening hours.

The climate of Havana is classified as a tropical savanna climate, influenced by its location within the trade wind belt and the warmth of ocean currents. While not experiencing harsh winters, Havana recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius on January 30, 2022 – a recent low, surpassing the previous record of 4 degrees Celsius set in January 2010 at the José Martí International Airport.

Historically, the highest temperature recorded in Havana was 38.2 degrees Celsius in September 2015, a record that remains unbroken. The city experiences a distinct dry season from November to April, with minimum temperatures between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius and maximums reaching 27 degrees Celsius. The warmer, wetter season spans from May to October, with maximum temperatures ranging from 20 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Cuba, officially the Republic of Cuba, is an island nation in the Caribbean, comprised of 15 provinces and the capital city, Havana. The country generally experiences high humidity, averaging around 90%, contributing to a persistent feeling of warmth throughout the year.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Cuba was 39.3 degrees Celsius in Veguitas, Granma province, on April 11, 2020. Conversely, the lowest temperature was 0.6 degrees Celsius in Baiona on February 8, 1996. Rainfall is most frequent in Havana between September and October, coinciding with the peak of the tropical storm and hurricane season in the region, while March and May typically witness very little precipitation.

Recent reports indicate that the CJNG, a Mexican drug cartel, has threatened Marina del Pilar, the Governor of Baja California, with narcomantas alleging extortion within the fishing sector, according to Infobae. Separately, Infobae also reported on alleged alliances between the CJNG and the Italian mafia, known as the Camorra. Former Sinaloa Cartel leader, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, recently sent a letter to a U.S. Judge asserting he has no communication with his lawyer.

Infobae also reported on the use of coded language, such as “Belicones” and “Trabajo para la maña,” on TikTok to recruit young people into criminal activities.
