[Post-match interview with Hayata who won the championship]

Harimoto was able to win against really strong players, and he had a lot of momentum. There were some areas where I was much better technically and mentally than when I was in All Japan. However, I was able to challenge myself more than Harimoto, so I am happy to win.

We had some tough matches (such as the second round where we lost match points many times), and yesterday I was really feeling nauseous while playing the match, but thanks to everyone at the venue, I was able to keep going until the end.

It’s really possible that something like that could happen, such as a really tough match at the Paris Olympics, or getting sick because it’s a match overseas. Including such a thing, I really do my best with the thought that each match will lead to my table tennis life.
