A tuned VAZ-2115 in a unique body was shown in Russia

The AvtoVAZ model range included a lot of different cars – sedans, hatchbacks, station wagons. However, the coupe-like sedan never appeared in the lineup of the domestic auto giant. This is a big omission for a Russian company with a rich history. Deciding to fill this gap, one enthusiast from Zlatoust took on a bold remake of the serial Lada.

Initially, it was planned to use a VAZ-21099 for the experiment, but it was not possible to find a donor body in decent condition, since these cars have not been produced for a long time. Therefore, the more recent VAZ-2115, which was also discontinued, but much later than the “ninety-ninth”, was chosen as the basis. Despite the imperfect technical condition of this car, the author immediately began to implement the idea, without shelving it.

To turn the sedan into a coupe, we had to get rid of the rear doors. For this purpose, the rear part from the VAZ-2108 was welded onto the original VAZ-2115 body along with doors that turned out to be longer than the standard ones. However, the resulting appearance of the car did not look very aesthetically pleasing.

Therefore, it was decided to reduce the roof height by 6 centimeters, while leaving the original windshields. The central pillars were carefully cut down, and the front and rear pillars were pushed towards the interior, changing their angle, making the body more sporty.

After preparation, the body was painted in bright orange paint. In addition, the owner replaced the original 8-valve engine with a 16-valve one, installed a new exhaust system, wheels and extensions. The result was a memorable car, which could have become the highlight of the AvtoVAZ model range, but never appeared on the production line. This bold experiment by one enthusiast filled a glaring gap in the lineup of domestic automakers. (photo: www.drive2.ru)
