Due to Jürgen Klopp’s constant statements about his future, we all thought that the German coach would close his cycle with Liverpool in 2024, the year his contract ended.
Kloppo projected that, but his wife intervened.
In interview with LFC.comthe German DT revealed that a conversation with his life partner made him contemplate the possibility of extending his bond with Los Reds.
And after thinking about it, and after talking about it with one of his assistants, he decided to postpone the sabbatical year that he had been planning for a long time.
He will continue with the Anfield giant -at least- until 2026.
KLOPPO WAS GOING TO LEAVE IN 2024, BUT HIS WIFE APPEARED…
“When I said it during the last extension, that it was all in 2024, it was, in fact, part of a private agreement and the most important contract that I signed in my life was with Ulla (his wife). That’s where it all started. We sat at the kitchen table, and Ulla said, ‘I don’t see us leaving in 2024.’ And I was like: ‘What?!’ ‘No, really, with all these people around…’”.
“I stay for 2 more years. And not only me, all my coaches (assistants) too, which is the most important thing. ‘Why?’ is the question. Because Ulla (his wife of his) wanted to stay! And like a good husband, what do you do when your wife wants to stay? You stay. It’s not the only reason, but it’s one of the reasons (laughs). I love our club, it is the best place to be. I feel really happy.”
Then came the talk with his assistant: “When this started I thought ‘let’s take a look at it’ and when I thought about it, it was clear that I needed to have a really important conversation and that was the one with Pep Lijnders. It’s probably the main reason because he’s a real cheerleader: you know him, this man is on fire and our connection goes beyond football stuff. When he said, ‘Oh yes, I’m in!’ So it became clear that we were open to any kind of talks. That is why we sit here now.”
His name is Ulla Sandrock Klopp, but you can also call him the best Liverpool manager.
