The death of the Egyptian actor, Mustafa Darwish, at the age of 43, received great media attention in Egypt, during the past hours.

Darwish al-Mawlid died in 1980, after a life full of artistic works, punctuated by some stances on social and religious issues, including his position on the issue of the “Mi’raj”, which was raised by the Egyptian journalist, Ibrahim Issa.

His brother, Mustafa Darwish, announced his death via his Facebook account, without explaining the reasons. Producer Jamal Al-Adl said in statements to Al-Watan newspaper that he died as a result of a heart attack, while a source in the hospital that witnessed the death of the deceased told the newspaper that the main cause of death was cardiac arrest.

Mostafa Darwish began his artistic career with director Khaled Youssef, in 2011, in the movie “Kaf Al Qamar”. And he had previous statements in which he indicated that he was chosen by chance at work, as he was on the filming site and was chosen to play the role of a police officer, so he agreed to that as a matter of experience.

He participated in other works, including the series “Saheb Al-Saada”, the series “B 100 Wesh”, the series “Kolha with Love” and the series “Sarah Al-Bati’”, which was shown last Ramadan.

Darwish had a previous position on the statements of Ibrahim Issa, in which he considered that some of the stories related to the Mi’raj (ascension) of the Prophet Muhammad to heaven were “fake”.

Darwish wrote in a previous post that he decided to boycott any Issa program and that he withdrew from the movie “Atheist” after he had already started filming it, because the author of the work is Issa. He said: “It is clear that it is a systematic war and I do not accept to be a tool of war against my religion.”

Issa’s statements sparked widespread controversy on social media, which necessitated intervention from the Public Prosecution Office and a response from Al-Azhar scholars and Dar Al-Fatwa in Egypt.
