He was in great form, but now Profil’s stay in the North Jutland club ends abruptly

Frederik Tilsted gets everything but the end of his second stay in Mors-Thy Handball, which the full-back had dreamed of.

Tilsted, who will switch to GOG from next season, got off to a bad start with his right hand in Saturday’s match against his future club. The consequence turned out to be a broken hand and an injury layoff that lasted the rest of the season.

– I was extremely sad when I got the message. It hurts to know that my season is over, that I won’t be playing in the playoffs and that I won’t be playing any more games for Mors-Thy this time around.

– But injuries are part of handball, and I’m not the type who doesn’t seek out contact with my opponents for fear of getting injured, says Frederik Tilsted.

It was otherwise not with fearful premonitions that his season was over that Frederik Tilsted went home from the last game of the regular season in Gudme on Saturday.

– I could sense that it hurt when I landed on my hand, but I didn’t think it was a break. It also hurt when it got cold during the break, but I managed to get going again and played pretty much the whole match.

– In the evening I could feel that it hurt, but I have tried it a few times before and immediately thought it was just a sprain.

– On an X-ray examination on Sunday morning, you couldn’t see the big deal either, apart from the fact that there had been a break earlier. A later MRI scan unfortunately showed that something had changed in the bone, says Frederik Tilsted.

With that message, a definitive period was put to the full-back’s season.

– I have to wear a cast until the playoffs are over. We must go to a third DM final so that I have a small chance of coming back, so it is probably as definitive as it can be, says Frederik Tilsted, who had otherwise shown great form with 42 goals in the last regular season five games.

– Of course, it just hurts to miss the playoffs. Even though we lost to GOG, we have shown a good form curve, and of course it hurts not to be able to participate in the matches we have fought for throughout the season and maybe even be allowed to play some even more exciting matches, says Frederik Tilsted.

He joins full-back Marcus Midtgaard and winger Magnus Norlyk, who are also reported to be out for the season. In addition, Johan Nilsson is currently also on the injured list.

These are not the best conditions for Mors-Thy Handball ahead of a play-off where Aalborg Handball, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg and Ribe-Esbjerg are the opponents.

– I am sure that we will probably deliver a nice play-off with some good performances. We have to go up against a couple of teams that may not be as weakened as us, but on the other hand, they have not shown any great form either.

– The ball is round and we have a strong home pitch, a good defence, and I also believe that perhaps with the help of some talented youth players we will find some solutions offensively, says Frederik Tilsted.

Mors-Thy Handball’s first task in the play-offs is Saturday 6 April, when Bjerringbro-Silkeborg will visit Nykøbing.
