Lewis Hamilton doesn’t want his mother’s name to disappear.
The seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, will add to his name that of his mother, Carmen Larbalestier, in order to honor her, said the British driver on Monday in Dubai.
“My mother’s name is Larbalestier and I’m about to add it to mine,” said the Mercedes team driver during a Q&A on a stage at the Dubai World Expo. .
The change will “soon” take place, said the 37-year-old driver who should race under the name Hamilton-Larbalestier. “I don’t really understand the idea of the bride losing her name when she gets married,” continued the pilot who “really” wishes his mother’s name wouldn’t disappear.
The seven-time world champion said the name change was “in progress” but would not take place until the first Grand Prix of the season in Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton spent part of his childhood with his mother, despite his parents’ divorce when he was a young child.
