WHILE, Waspada.co.id – Head of Industry, Trade, Energy and Mineral Resources (Disperindag ESDM) of North Sumatra (Sumatra) Mulyadi Simatupang said as many as 99 percent of traders reject the ban on the sale of used (import) clothing or often called monza.
This percentage, said Mulyadi, was the amount obtained through a field review conducted by the North Sumatra Energy and Mineral Resources Office for used clothing traders in the city of Medan.
“We did indeed check Thrifting in several markets but did not say that we were officers. On average, frankly, almost 99 percent of traders refuse,” said Mulyadi, in Medan, Tuesday (4/4).
However, Mulyadi said, his party still asked traders not to buy new bales from abroad. Rather spend merchandise that is still there at this time.
“Because we are currently selling this, we are also facing the big day of Eid al-Fitr. So we say please spend the goods, sell them, but we ask not to buy new products from outside,” he said.
Mulyadi said, Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS) are currently also conducting education to the public and traders regarding the dangers of used clothing.
“Used clothing is also cheap, but from a health point of view, it’s probably better to wear unused clothing at a more affordable price. So education continues. But if we take no action,” he said.
It is known, the government banned the import of used clothing with the issuance of Minister of Trade Regulation Number 40 of 2022 concerning Amendments to Minister of Trade Regulation Number 18/2021 concerning Export Prohibited Goods and Import Prohibited Goods.
The ban on the import of used clothing is in the context of protecting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). In 2023 enforcement will begin after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) highlights this. (will/man/d1)
