Health Jalisco: Clinics attached to pharmacies grow in the state

The Coprisjal estimated that in the entity there are 2,234 offices attached to pharmacies

Ramón Ávalos Huerta, in charge of the Department of Regulation and Supplies for Health of the Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks of the State of Jalisco (Coprisjal), estimated that in the Entity there are 2,234 offices attached to pharmacies. However, he stressed that it is an approximate figure since notices of operation are granted only as a general medicine or specialty medicine office, without there being any information in the process that identifies it as an annex office. This figure represents an increase with the thousand 065 operating notices registered by this means in January 2018.

“We cannot identify in a register to know how many offices there are attached to pharmacies because they are registered with the same format and requirements. But within the chain pharmacies, we get this estimate, which is 2,234 offices attached to pharmacies,” explained Ávalos Huerta.

The official emphasized that this type of transfer must comply with the same parameters as a general medicine office, Apart from being independent from pharmacies.

He stressed that the Coprisjal has a regular surveillance program and the one that they do at the request of some other authority, where they review specific issues to the notices of operation and sanitary licenses.

On the legislative proposals presented to improve the supervision of these spaces, the official responded that in January of this year they have carried out 56 verification visits to regular medicine offices.

“They do not necessarily comply with everything, some have irregularities, whether they do not have the complete information of the professional, the clinical file that may have some abbreviation or that it is not filled out in accordance with current regulations or health. Or there may be irregularities in the infrastructure as well.”

What should I pay attention to?

Finally, Ramón Ávalos Huerta recommended that the population review the information related to the doctors who attend the place, with their title in public view that the spaces are separated from the pharmacy, and that they have notice of operation.
