Health: Providing reproductive health services to 847,000 women

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the ministry implemented 348 Reproductive Health Caravan And services in remote and most cared areas at the level of the Republic, in addition to carrying out several promotional campaigns to provide free family planning services and means, in the governorates of Alexandria, Damietta, Dakahlia, Qalyubia, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Matrouh, Assiut, Qena, Cairo, Gharbia, Beheira, Port Said and Menoufia Kafr El-Sheikh, Giza, Aswan, New Valley, Suez, Sharqia, Ismailia, and the Red Sea.

Abdul Ghaffar added that the ministry provides technical support to clinics affiliated with NGOs by training their work teams to provide family planning services with high quality, and they are provided with family planning methods periodically, according to their needs, pointing out that 5 private clinics were opened during the same period, in the governorates of Cairo, Gharbia, and Minya, in addition to two clinics in the Red Sea Governorate; This brings the total number of clinics supported by NGOs that provide family planning services to 484 clinics, with 419 clinics affiliated with NGOs, and 65 clinics affiliated with the 2 Enough project.

Abdel Ghaffar added that 3 other clinics were opened to provide family planning services at Zayed Specialized Hospital in Giza Governorate, the International Islamic Center for Population Studies and Research in Sharkia Governorate, and the Health Insurance Clinic in Gharbia Governorate (Khalid Ibn Al-Walid Branch in Tanta).

For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, Head of Population and Family Planning Sector, indicated that 7,591 medical teams were trained on counseling and family planning services after childbirth and abortion in hospitals, and nurses were trained on developing clinical skills such as pressure measurement and safe injection of contraceptives. Family planning, and ways to prevent the spread of infection for a healthy and safe environment, pointing out that workshops were held to train media officials on the approach of social communication skills and behavior change in the governorates of Damietta, Port Said, Gharbia, Qalyubia, Menoufia and Sharqia, in addition to training 344 doctors and pharmacists from the private sector on providing advice and organizing services. The family resides in the governorates of Giza, Cairo, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena and Aswan.

Abbas added that the total visits to family planning units to obtain family planning services and means amounted to 5,712,428 visits, including 621,970 new beneficiaries, pointing out that 7,160,847 different means were spent.

Abbas said that 4,429,289 home visits were carried out through rural women leaders in all governorates of the Republic, through which 258,619 educational seminars were presented to raise awareness of family planning services and means, promote health services and raise health awareness for the community, while adhering to measures to prevent the Corona virus. He pointed to the transfer of 2,337,287 beneficiaries to service provision outlets.

Abbas pointed out that 74,140 seminars were held in women’s clubs to develop their own capabilities and gain more experience. This helps to empower her economically, as 51,43 women have been trained in some crafts such as handicrafts, leather products, sewing and knitting, which the beneficiaries produce after their training through women’s club officials. For the beneficiary products, believing in the importance of supporting women’s development, raising the economic level of Egyptian families and raising women’s ability to make decisions, especially the decision to have children, and within the objectives of improving demographic characteristics.
