Health | Streptococcus A: the 4th epidemic?

A new health threat looms. It is called “invasive streptococcal A infection (IISGA)”. In 15 days in France, this bacterium led at least eight children to intensive care. None had any risk factor. Two of them died. Three cases have also been reported in adults, one of whom died. This is the worrying report drawn up on December 6 by the general directorate of health which sent an “urgent” to all practitioners. The DGS warns of cases “in greater numbers than usual, reported in different regions (Occitanie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, New-Aquitaine) over the past 15 days”.
