Dengue fever exposes you to severe complications

Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by a arbovirus. Lhe dengue virus is transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes : Temples of the Egyptians et Aedes albopictus. CThe latter is commonly called “tiger mosquito”, more and more present in the territory.

There are several serotypes of the virus: infection by one of them induces immunity once morest it, but not once morest the others: one can therefore be reinfected.

If the disease is generally mild, even asymptomatic in 70% of cases, the usual form is manifested by a sudden fever and violent joint pain as well as a rash. In rare cases, serious and sometimes fatal complications can occur: 1 to 5% of cases declare severe dengue fever, with respiratory distress and multiple haemorrhages, or even neurological damage.

When there are symptoms, these occur between 3 and 14 days following the mosquito bite (4 to 7 on average). Healing is usually spontaneous, but intense fatigue may persist for several weeks.
