Health will work with importers to reduce the gap in access to medicines

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Minister of Public Health, María Teresa Barán, received members of the Chamber of Representatives and Importers of Pharmaceutical Products (CRIPFA), to work on reducing gaps in access to medicines.

“Everyone’s contribution is key so that medicines reach the Paraguayan population in a timely manner. “I received members of the House of Representatives and Importers of Pharmaceutical Products, with whom we are going to work to reduce gaps in access to medicines,” said the head of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare in a post on her social networks.

The objective of the meeting is to ensure that the population that goes to public hospitals has access to medicines, without problems.

“I value the commitment expressed by CRIPFA, which will contribute to achieving the objective we have as the Ministry of Health of ensuring that each patient accesses their treatment in a timely manner,” he expressed.

Last week, Minister Barán also met with members of the Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Chemical Industry (Cifarma), to guarantee the population’s access to essential medicinesthrough provision to the different health establishments in the country.

On that occasion, a permanent working group was established in order to advance better access to medicines for patients, at all levels from Family Health Units (USF) and public hospitals.

After pay the debt contracted in the previous government with pharmaceutical suppliers (of more than 300 million dollars), as announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF); The health authorities agreed to a meeting with representatives of the Chamber, which is the civil entity that brings together the laboratories that operate in the national territory.
