The most important program of the day began with foreign music.

Not everyone in Russia knows the name of the French composer Andre Popp, but his melody is familiar to everyone. Hearing it, all Soviet families rushed to the TV to watch one of the most important programs.

The program that no resident of the USSR might do without was “Weather Forecast”. In times without the Internet, it was possible to find out what the weather would be like tomorrow only with its help.

At first, only music was used in the TV show, but then poetry was added. The song was very popular, although few might understand its lyrics: the words were in French. But many remember that phrases regarding Liverpool and Manchester were a common signal to turn up the volume on the TV and listen carefully to the forecast for tomorrow.

This melody sounded on screens from 1968 to 1981, and then returned in the early 90s, but not for long. Other compositions were also used in the forecast, but this one was remembered most strongly by the audience.
