The heat wave hitting the province could have a negative impact on CHSLD residents and emergency room traffic.

“When will a minister go to bed in a CHSLD bed?” says Marie Viens, sister of a CHSLD resident.
After denouncing the situation to QUB Radio, Marie Viens won an important fight for her sister: that of an air conditioner in her room, just in time for the hot weather.
“Portable air conditioning is the solution. They don’t need to do heavy work, that’s the end of those excuses,” she said.
The most vulnerable are the elderly and very young children, recalls Dr. François Marquis, head of intensive care at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

“Cases of dehydration, that’s probably the first thing that’s going to happen. In intensive care, what we can see are heatstroke. Heatstroke is when the body is no longer able to evacuate heat. And there, the temperature rises, ”he explains.
Tension is mounting on the side of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ), while “we are preparing for the strike, we are going to name things clearly.
