Heat Wave Alert: Yellow Alert Issued by RMI for Belgian Territory until Next Tuesday

2023-09-06 12:34:21

The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has issued a yellow heat alert. This alert, which goes until Monday or even next Tuesday, covers almost all of Belgian territory.

The thresholds for a heat wave should be exceeded in all provinces, with the exception of Luxembourg and the Coast. To reach the heat wave thresholds, the temperature must exceed 25 degrees for five consecutive days, including three days recording at least 30 degrees.

The IRM invites the population to take care of the elderly, who can be weakened by the heat, by making them drink more and not exposing them to direct sunlight.
