Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia), second in the MotoGP World Championship standings behind Fabio Quartararo, suffered a heavy crash on Saturday during the fourth and final free practice session of the British Grand Prix, on the Silverstone circuit.
The Spanish rider was thrown off his motorcycle while gliding in a fast turn. Evacuated on a stretcher at first, he then got up, visibly stunned, then joined the medical center of the circuit by walking, supported by two people.
Aleix Espargaro, however, got the green light from doctors to take part in GP qualifying. Johann Zarco (Ducati) set the best time in the EL 4 with a time of 1’59”005.
