Agartala> Heavy polling in Tripura despite BJP’s threats and violence continuing on polling day. The Election Commission informed that 81.10 percent of people voted at 4:00 p.m., when polling was supposed to end. At that time, 1.35 lakh voters were standing in regarding 1500 booths. The final polling percentage may go up to 85. Last time the polling was 89.08 percent. This time a total of 3327 booths were arranged for around 28 lakh voters. When voting started at 7 am, there was a long line of voters including women. Polling was slow due to malfunctioning of voting machines in many booths. Clashes broke out in Bishalgarh, Shantirpur, Ramnagar, Dhanpur, Bamutia, Suryaminagar and Barjala as BJP men threatened voters. Voters exercised their right to consent without being threatened.
