Three more people were seriously injured. Officers were taken to the emergency helicopter and sent to the hospital. The deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said that at the time of the accident a group of homeless workers and their families were sleeping in shelters near the walls.

The casual labourers and their families were sleeping when the collapse occurred early on Friday in the state capital Lucknow, Mr Brajesh Pathak told local news media. At least 23 people were killed in various incidents across eight districts of Uttar Pradesh amid continuous rains in the state for the past three days, officials said on Friday. /tribuneindia/
