Hedley singer’s sexual assault trial begins

Jury selection began Wednesday in Toronto in the sexual assault trial of Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard.

The 37-year-old musician was charged in 2018 with sexual assault causing bodily harm and sexual interference with a 16-year-old girl.

The two alleged victims are a woman and a teenage girl. The alleged acts allegedly occurred in 2016 in the Toronto area.

The musician of the popular rock band Hedley pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning in a downtown Toronto courtroom.

The trial was scheduled to begin in January 2021, before being postponed three times due to COVID-19. It should continue until June.
